Wed July 9th - Sat July 12th
Yes, I survived Girls Camp 2008! This year it was a stake girls camp and we had lots of fun activities. We played team building games, and made some fun crafts from value bracelets and book markers for third world girls to marshmallow guns. The weather was great till the last day when we got rain.
Camp had it's share of fun, learning and pranks. On Friday morning the girls with a bit too much down time started to bring things from each ward back to camp. (This after someone took our sign with the mail.) Anyway these are all the spoils. Oh, they even leader-napped one of the 13th wards leaders for some craft time. All the stuff was returned at lunch so as to start the reverence of the last day.
These are our awesome youth leaders. They are the leaders and our right hands while at camp. These wonderful girls make camp either a great or not so great experience for the girls. They did an awesome job.
Ron came up to camp Thursday night and stayed thru sat morning. It was great to have him there. After dinner Friday we packed up the Kitchen and put it all away . Good thing as it rained like crazy after Testimony meeting. The Stake program was wonderful and brought a great spirit to the end of camp and the testimony meetings were wonderful. I got to see a side of the girls not seen on Sundays . I not only saw them having fun and playing pranks, but saw a wonderful caring side that was shown to any girl who was having a tough time. The love and sensitivity they showed each other made it easy to see they truly are daughters of a heavenly father and they truly are a wonder. That is one of the main reasons I love girls camp, and spending time with these awesome girls. We are in good hands with our future with them leading the way.
Sat we were up and packed before breakfast so we pulled out and were on our way back down the mountain around 9 am. We ended up with 6 girls in our car with Ron and I coming home. Ron told them they needed to sing all the way home. That was fun . They started out with Disney songs and threw in a couple weird ones just for fun. But it made the trip go faster. Then it was time to unload the trailer and head home for much needed showers and time to nap. All and all it was a great week.
