Victoria has cought the quilt bug

Victoria had loved tying the quilts so asked to make her first quilt..Music to my ears. /so Sat while grandpa was doing temple confirmations with Young women and us girls were having craft time we got started. I did the cutting but she did the rest with a bit of guidance. First we cut 12 51/2 " blocks of 9 different fabrics. Then she sewed them together into 9 patches. she sewed on my featherweight...

once we got all the nine patches done we cut them in half twice each

Then sewed them back together after a turn or two.
Next it was time to line them up in the order she wanted.

We wrote out her tag and she sewed it onto the back...

Sewed the blocks into rows, and then all the rows together

Ta... da... the top is done...Did you notice she was sewing in her pj's
she'd get up and had to do some before breakfast.

Next we made the sandwich of top batt and back.
Sewed around the sand. in an envelop. I let her do
the trimming of the edges, and flip it right side out.
She picked a decorative stitch she liked and Went around the outside again.

So by Tuesday morning before they left for home Victoria had done her first quilt at age 9. She did an awesome job and all she has to do is add a few ties to keep all layers in place. It was truly a joy to see her so excited to get it done and she was so proud of her accomplishment. As was I.

Once she gets it tied it will be ready to enter into the fair.

I am so proud of her! I still do not have the desire to make a quilt - let alone lose sleep & postpone my meals to get one done!
