Site Seeing in Salt Lake

We came up to Salt Lake for Grant's Blessing last night and got a room for a couple nights, Ron went and meet Grant Friday night and today Chris and Nicole had his brother's wedding to attend so we decided to tour Salt Lake We Started with a tour of Welfare Square.
These grain Silos hold alot of grains I forgot how much
but it would take care of a lot of us if need be.
This is one side of the square...
This the other side...
These were the two missionary sisters that gave us the tour...
From Conn. and Idaho. First they took us thru the bishops
store house, basically a store with everything, and no prices
no pics as a privacy issue. but really neat
Then on to the bakery... And Warehouse...
Examples of the kind of boxes the church sends out to
those experience disasters of any sort, The clean up buckets
stay within the U.S.
Here is the warehouse where stuff is stored till needed.
They bake bread thru the week
And these are some of the products that are canned in the cannery.
Something we learned is there are different labels, one for bishop's store
house, one for shipping to relief efforts , and one for private use when
done and purchased at cannery.
Then there is a huge quilting / sewing room boy would I like
to be able to volunteer here there are four kits made to give
away here. This is an orphan kit.
An infant Kit...
A hygiene kit...
And a school kit... I remember doing parts to the last 2
kits so it was kinda fun to see them all put together.
One last look at the quilting area thru the window so a lot
of glare.
Than off to the dairy...
These are the products made here... along with milk , choc milk
and mild cheddar cheese
They made a product that helps starving children get their
bodies ready to be able to tolerate food again, first for Africa
and have improved it some and now ship it out to other
countries in need of it.
On to the cheese part of the dairy....
Ron was pretty interested in this part..
s
Those are the presses in 40lb. blocks age it for 30 days and package it.
They start the process at 5 am and finish about 9 am so not
able to catch them at work unless the first tour of the week days
curd comes out of the vat and it's loaded into the presses...
This is the vat.....
This is the milk room and we were able to taste the choc milk
and sample the cheese yum yum.

we ended our tour going thru the DI sorting room and the
store pretty interesting . would like to come back during
the week and have a tour when the workers are there.
Back where we started fun hour and a half, and very informative.
